Was the picture above taken at the old

Terminal Station (Joanna Simpson says,"Yes.")

Opened in May 1905, Terminal Station (above) served Southern Railway, Central of Georgia, and Atlanta & West Point. It closed in June 1970 and was demolished in 1972.

The station and train shed were built for the Atlanta Terminal Company at a cost of $1.6 million. The architect for the project was P. Thornton Marye, who also designed Atlanta's Fox Theater.

Next door, at 99 Spring Street, was Southern Railway's Atlanta office building (still standing and still in use by Norfolk Southern Railway).

The Richard B. Russell Federal Building now stands on Terminal Station's site.

Or perhaps it might have been taken at:

Union Station

Opened in 1930, Union Station (above) stood at the Forsyth Street viaduct, elevated above the tracks. It served Atlantic Coast Line, Nashville, Chattanooga & St. Louis, Louisville & Nashville, and Georgia Railroad. The building was demolished in the early 1970s. (Views of its site today.)

Two earlier union depots stood on the block bounded by Central Avenue and Wall, Pryor, and Alabama streets. The first, built in 1853, was destroyed by Federal troops in 1864. The second, constructed in 1871, was demolished after its replacement by the 1930 structure.
