[_private/discRH_ahdr.htm]Pictures of East Point on Web SiteFrom: Mary McDuffie Petty CommentsWas looking at the churches shown and noticed that East Point Presbyterian Church was listed as being started in 1915. That is true but it was originally located on East Point Street across the street from East Point Street Methodist Church. It was moved to the corner of Church Street and Thompson Avenue sometime the latter part of the 40's or early 50's. That is where it is located today. Also Church Street school was not shown as a school. (It may not exit anymore) It was located on Church Street but the front was on another street about one or two blocks from Thompson Avenue. Reed Trimble who graduated in '54 was raised on the street in front of the school. This school was built to house the first through the third grades and then we transferred to Central Park for the 4th grade through the 7th grade. Church Street school was between Thompson Avenue and Washington Road, near the Shell station on Washington and Church Street. Boy this really brings back memories. The Shell Station had a sign over the door that said - "If you can't stop - wave!" By the way, Charles Stephens did own the drugstore across the street from Russell and he had a boy and girl who were blind. They lived on Cleveland Avenue in a grey rock house about the place where the King Professional Building is now. That goes back a long way. If you have any more information to add to these memories, please feel freen to jump in and add to them. [_private/discRH_aftr.htm] |
