You guys are confusing the Dairy Queen, located on Main Street just north of Jefferson Avenue, with the Miss Georgia Dairy Store, located on Cleveland Avenue. My mother worked at Miss Georgia and was store manager for a number of years until poor health forced her to resign about 1956. The milkshakes (spinning wheels) cost 20 cents; a banana split an exorbitant 35 cents. Carrie Anglin, Joyce Anglin's mother, worked at Miss Georgia from the mid 1950's probably until they closed the store. When my mother worked evenings at Miss Georgia, my dad and I would drive to the store to pick her up after work. There would always be plenty of empty parking spaces in front of the store weekday evenings, so my dad could avoid parallel parking by simply driving along the curb until the curb feelers on our 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air began to screech, then he would just stop within a marked parking space. Those were the days!
